At Kula, we believe that wellness for the whole body, mind, and spirit is a way to live in harmony. Our Therapists have gone through many years of training and are compassionate to your individual needs.
Massage has been used to enhance health for thousands of years. Today, people from all walks of life are turning to massage because of its many beneficial effects for body and mind. Massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint mobility, reduce mental and physical fatigue, promote faster healing of injured muscle tissue, and so much more.
Massage also helps relieve the everyday stress. Most of us live with stress but we do not always recognize how damaging it is to our health. According to the American Institute of Stress, 43% of adults suffer adverse health effects due to stress. As much as 75-90% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress-related complaints. Massage counters the body's stress response by lowering levels of hormones such as cortisol. It is a means to restore the body's balance and bring about a restful mind.

Wellness Services- Massage/Bodywork Descriptions
is a classic, relaxing modality that focuses on improving circulation through manipulation of the muscles. Swedish massage relieves muscle tension and increases flexibility and mobility.
Deep Muscle Massage
targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.
Believe it or not, our sense of smell is ten thousand times more sensitive than our sense of taste. Aromatherapy supports wellness and may improve your quality of life in physical, emotional, and spiritual ways. It is both an art and a science. When used with massage, essential oils can produce remarkable and therapeutic results. The benefits of your experience can be delightfully enhanced with the addition of aromatherapy.
Ayurvedic Treatment *
In our Ayurvedic Treatment we use oil blends from Sarada Ayurvedic Remedies in each treatment. These oils are prepared in India in the traditional way. The herbs are collected and purified before being added to the oil. The herbs are cooked in a time honored tradition on a slow fire in brass vessels. They are then allowed to mature for at least 30 days, with constant care and intention. The herbs have a chance to permeate and energize the oil, which then acts as the carrier, bringing the healing effects deeply into the body. The oil becomes
especially absorbable by the skin and the entire body through this ancient process. Herbal Oil Treatment and Exfoliation (Abhyange-Garshana) Relaxes and rejuvenates your immune system and brings balance to your body and mind with this dry silk-glove exfoliation followed by a rhythmic full body application of
warm herb infused oils blended for your Ayurvedic body type.
is massage for the mature and aging client. Relatively soft, soothing techniques are used to help improve joint mobility, reduce pain, increase circulation, and nourish the skin.
LaStone Massage *
is a form of hydrotherapy that helps to enhance the benefits of massage. Hot stones are used to help loosen muscles and bring extra blood supply to the area where they are applied. Cold stones are used to help alleviate chronic pain, they send blood supply away from the area where they are applied. Switching between the hot and cold acts like a pump, circulation coming then going, helping to move the buildup of whatever has been causing pain.
Lomi Lomi Massage *
is an ancient Hawaiian massage technique. It is a very smooth and fluent moving modality developed from Hawaiian dance. Rooted in sacred tradition, it is a luxurious treatment as well as therapeutic and highly restorative.
uses gentle, rhythmic strokes and pumping movements that enhance the function of the lymphatic system thereby encouraging and supporting the body's natural defenses and ability to heal itself.
During this lesson a couple, or pair of friends, will learn how to give and to receive a relaxing, therapeutic massage. The minimum session length is ninety minutes. A two hour session is recommended.
uses techniques that target the fascial system. Various conditions can cause the fascia to become tight, restricted, and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Gentle, sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions is used to eliminate pain and restore motion.
utilizes static pressure on specific myofascial trigger points to relieve pain. This approach to muscular pain relief will help to bring about balance between the nervous and the musculoskeletal systems.
combines some elements of sports and medical massage; it integrates various modalities to treat soft-tissue pain and injury.
is performed with consideration for the special needs of pregnant women. The therapist knows the proper way to position and support the woman's body during the massage and how to modify techniques.
involves applying pressure to certain points on the feet and hands that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. The feet and hands, with their many nerve endings, provide an easy way to interrupt dysfunctional cycles and reset homeostasis, the body's equilibrium. The relaxing nature of reflexology is a major aspect of its benefits.
usually translated as "Universal Life Energy" --- is a form of energy healing developed in late 19th-century Japan, though it's believed by many to be much older. Ki is the essence of life, and is present in all living things. Reiki
practitioners believe that blockages in this energy can lead to illness, injury and imbalance. During a Reiki healing session, ki is directed through the practitioner's hands and into the recipient's body to clear blockages and
balance their personal energies.
Shiatsu Massage *
is the restoration of properly balanced energy flow in the body. The circulation of this energy can become blocked or stagnant due to stress or disorder. Shiatsu promotes health and inner harmony by strengthening the body's self-healing abilities. It is applied to the comfortably clothed body with both broad contact and specific thumb pressure and also includes some gentle, passive mobilization.
is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are four contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, injury treatment, and maintenance.
Thai Yoga Massage *
is unlike more conventional therapies in that it is done on the floor and involves a great deal of stretching and structural manipulation, allowing the body to unwind. It encompasses a wide variety of techniques used in Thai Bodywork , Shiatsu, Traditional Massage, and Yoga practice that are blended into a truly personalized session inspired by the unique present state of each individual person. This process allows one to: unwind and balance out the muscular structure of the body, free muscular impingement on nerves, make space in joints and improve joint mobility, and improve posture and postural related discomfort.
Thai Poultice Massage *
is a form of hydrotherapy that helps to enhance the benefits of massage. In this treatment a mixture of herbs is tightly bound in muslin and then heated before application to the body. The body absorbs the healing of the herbs through the skin and through the scent that is released into the atmosphere. The poultice is applied to each section of the body before massage to that area, allowing a deeper massage without soreness.
We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. It's our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:

If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice you will be charged half of the session cost for the first offense. Repeat cancellations will be charged at 100%. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate the next appointment. Depending upon how late you arrive, we will determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. The bodywork portion is a fully-clothed session that makes use of rhythmic compression and other techniques along energy channels to affect the flow of qi, release muscular tension, promote circulation, and facilitate healing.
The other portion is individual instruction in qigong exercises that you can practice for enhancing your health. Qigong is a term for traditional Chinese medicine practices that integrate gentle movement, breathing, and mental focus to improve the flow of energy, or qi. At times, visualizations may be used to enhance focus and move qi throughout the body. Self-massage can also be incorporated.
Bodywork coupled with qigong practice can be especially beneficial. This combination is especially helpful with conditions ranging from asthma to arthritis, anxiety to depression, chronic pain to recent injury, and fatigue to trauma.
